Backend & Machine Learning Internship at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay under the guidance of Prof. Ganesh Ramakrishnan and Akshay Jalan.
During this 9-month internship (November 2019 - July 2020), I contributed to multiple industry and research-level projects, working across backend development, machine learning, and technical project management.
Projects
Venter – Intelligent Complaint Management System
Role: Backend & ML Developer
- Developed an NLP-based Machine Learning model for real-time classification of comments as complaints, improvements, or affirmative statements
- Designed and maintained RESTful APIs enabling client organizations to invoke ML models at scale
- Deployed the full application on Google Cloud Platform
- Engaged directly with client organizations for requirements gathering and feature design
Akshara Shodhika – Sanskrit Digitization Project
Role: Technical Project Manager
- Designed and executed the project workflow for digitizing 500+ Sanskrit books and manuscripts using OCR and manual correction
- Managed project execution, monitoring, and team coordination
- Drafted comprehensive Software, Installation, and Project Management documentation
- Conducted technical interviews for prospective interns during the hiring process
Corontine – Geo-fencing Quarantine Enforcement
Role: Co-Project Manager & Product Video Maker
- Demonstrated the quarantine enforcement application to end-users and stakeholders
- Created product demonstration videos in English, Hindi, and Marathi to communicate features across diverse audiences
- Communicated technical requirements and improvements between technical teams and external organizations
Neural Machine Translation (Indian Navy Project)
Role: Co-Assistant Researcher
- Contributed to research on OCR correction systems for machine translation pipelines
- Project postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19
